In The Spotlight: Meet Robyn M.

THE FIT LIFT’s In The Spotlight category will interview active, inspiring women from all walks of life who demonstrate strength in many ways. Whether you've made small steps to lead a more healthy lifestyle or train like a best, we want to celebrate YOU. We believe that by sharing our stories, we can help others to both start, and continue on the path of living a healthy lifestyle by leading by example.  If you would like to be featured on our blog, please email us.

I started following Robyn, @robynmeierotto, on Instagram about 3 years ago,  At that time, I only followed a handful of individuals and I can still remember her daughter turning 5!  Both mamas of 3, Robyn and I also have design in common, and I believe that's how I stumbled across her profile.  Since that time, Robyn has continued to inspire and motivate her followers through sharing her journey of weight loss.  She has developed a passion for fitness, but also spreading encouragement and confidence to those that follow her. The family of five are always on the move whether it's to family swim or a ball game.  I've enjoyed getting to know Robyn virtually, and believe her story and strength are beautiful to share.

1. Provide us a brief introduction about who you are.
I'm Robyn, I recently turned 40. I've been married to my husband Dan for over 20 years. Together we live in our forever project of an over 100 year old farmhouse on an acreage in Iowa with our 3 kids, Collin, 15, Evan 12, & Lydia 7. I'm a freelance designer for the scrapbook industry. Currently I'm working toward my next goal, which is being able to help women by coaching them in nutrition & fitness to live a healthy life.

2. What does STRENGTH mean to you?
Strength to me is feeling empowered by what I can accomplish by working hard & pushing yourself beyond what you thought was possible for yourself.

3. What does BEAUTY mean to you?
Beauty to me is having a positive attitude, a compassionate heart, a healthy mind & body.

 4. What inspires you? What is your driving force?
What inspires me is seeing how far I've come & setting a good example for my kids. My driving force is knowing what I used to feel for so many years when I was overweight & knowing I never want to be in that place again.

5. What is your proudest accomplishment?
Getting to the point I'm at now. After a long journey of losing over 80lbs, at 40 years old I've never felt or looked healthier or been this fit. I even accomplished a goal of competing in a natural bodybuilding show in the bikini division last fall! This was huge step out of my comfort zone, very empowering & something I would never even imagine being a possibility for me.

6. What is your biggest challenge?
Overcoming negative thoughts. I think it's pretty common for most of us, but I try to keep myself from picking apart what I see as "flaws" & focus on the positive things.

7. What is your mantra? What are your favorite words to live by?
One of my favorite quotes sums it up...

"You've always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself."
- Glinda from the Wizard of Oz

For me, this resonates. I feel like I spent so many years thinking I could never get to the point I am now, so I continually gave up, or simply wouldn't start. Once I changed my way of thinking, I found out just how powerful I could be.
